CERTIFIED MASSAGE THERAPIST
Sabrena Wicker, CMT - I received my first massage after the birth of my youngest son in late 2002. My cousin, Kessa Tucker, D.C, was the massage therapist at that time, she has since become a local Chiropractor. After getting my massage from her, I knew that is what I wanted to do as a career. In March of 2006 I enrolled in the massage therapy program at Central State Massage Academy and obtained my certification. I graduated in October 2006 with a 93.5 GPA and began my massage career full time. In August of 2008 I became a part time instructor for the school for a short period of time. Massage therapy is my passion. I believe that you, the client, is of the utmost importance. I have been told by many of my clients that it was 'the best massage I've ever had'. Just look at the testimony page from just a few of my clients. I hope that all of my future clients will agree.
YOUR FIRST MASSAGE: We recommend a Swedish massage with some light Therapeutic for first timers. If you have had massages prior, more therapeutic work can be done and an assessment plan made to achieve your therapy goal.
ABOUT THE MASSAGE: Clients are draped with a top cover sheet at all times, while only exposing the area in which the therapist is working on. We typically start in the supine position (face up) with the scalp, face, then pectoral region and moving on to the arms and legs. Next, the client will be asked to turn over to the prone position (face down) where work will begin on the back side of the arms, feet and legs. Then the majority of the time will be spent focusing on the hips, glutes, back and neck. Any treatment session can be adjusted per clients request. At any time with any therapist your pain level should never go above a 6 on 1 - 10 scale, as this is the point where bruising could possibly occur. . ALWAYS speak up if you have questions or concerns, desire more or less pressure or need additional work in a certain area. The time on the table is your time. Please note: Massage does not include work on the breasts or abdominal region. This type of massage is done only upon a signed request and release by the client.
SWEDISH MASSAGE (gentle relaxing): Employs traditional manipulations of effleurage, petrissage, vibration, friction and tapotement movements.
INTERNSHIP: An intern is a senior student or a recent graduate undergoing supervised practical training. They perform a massage on the owner(s) using a variety of pressures, movements and techniques. They must be educated and perform impressively to meet our qualifications.
SPA: Our day spa provides a variety of services for the purpose of improving health, beauty and relaxation. A nurturing, safe, clean and caring serene atmosphere. Our treatment rooms are warm and comfortable with soft music to help you relax.
Drinking plenty of water after a massage is recommended. Water ensures you are properly hydrated and helps the body flush out any accumulated toxins. Massage stimulates circulation in the body while expressing water, salt and other minerals from the muscles and circulation is designed to carry away waste materials generated by the cells. By providing your body with plenty of water, clients can help sweep away those waste materials, otherwise, they might build up causing muscle aches and soreness after a massage. At checkout, we provide a bottle of water and encourage each client to drink several more over the course of the day. We offer lower than average prices so our clients can afford our services not only for the relaxation, but for the health benefits that massage therapy offers.
